Warm Winter Yoga Escape in Byron Bay

19th-24th August 2017

Set time aside this winter to focus on you. Experience an escape from the cold winter gloom. Enjoy a warm retreat week designed to renew your spirit, deepen your connection to your practice and deepen your connection to yourself. Embrace your blissful wellness week full of healthy cuisine, yoga,  and taking time to unwind and bask in the warmth of the sun.

Suitable for beginners to intermediate. Starts Saturday 19th of August 4pm and ends 24th of August at 10.30am.

Dive deep into your yoga practice with daily sessions of both yin and yang sessions as well as myofascial release. We will relax and balance our minds through meditation and yoga nidra. Our bodies will be fuelled with fresh nurturing healthy foods.  There will be plenty of opportunities to relax on the beach gazing out to sea.

Byron Bay beachfront accommodation where the beach and the bush come together on the edge of the National Park. Welcome to the beautiful Tallow Beach! Stay in your own secluded, two bedroom beach house in a private 30 acre sanctuary with 630 meters of beachfront, halfway between the lighthouse and Broken Head. Uncrowded waves, the friendly wildlife, a tranquil lake and a bicycle track into the CBD complete the scene.  Enjoy a great nights sleep to the hypnotic sound of the ocean. Explore the other great locations close by or get into the cafe scene and some serious shopping in the CBD.

Beachfront cottages situated within a nature reserve and natural bush setting. Self contained and secluded with your own private space and large undercover decks for out door living. Some cottages overlook the lake and the beach is just 60 meters away. The relaxing sound of the ocean, peace and serenity. Private seclusion on the beachfront at Tallow Beach. Located at the edge of Arakwal National Park between the ti tree lake and the ocean is this unique and charming low key resort offering natural open spaces and a retreat right on the beach. A 60 meter walk puts you on the uncrowded beach that fronts this beautiful wildlife sanctuary. Relax in the peaceful environment, walk the beaches,  or just chill out on the generous veranda’s that preside over bush or lake views. Heaven! Just bush and beach and a cycle path that runs through a National Park for an easy ride to the center of town. Features include reverse cycle air conditioning, your own BBQ on the deck, two bedrooms with king or single beds, linen is supplied, TV/DVD player, wifi is available on request. You can choose to share your room with another fellow retreater or have a room all to yourself.

So pleased to have the reknowed chef Veet from Veets Cuisine preparing our retreat feasts. All produce used is organic and where possible locally sourced. The finest quality ingredients are purchased from farmers in the Byron Bay area who really care about what they are growing.

Each meal is lovingly prepared and we are guided by the following principles:

• Provide protein-rich meals – where even the biggest of meat eaters will feel satisfied.
• Provide complete proteins – ensuring you get all nine essential amino acids with each and every meal.
• Provide adequate levels of iron in meals – combining iron rich foods with ingredients that assist in the absorbing of iron.
• Ensuring complete deliciousness at all times – where food is not only wholesome but the taste is equally as vital, using ingredients that have no added preservatives or colours etc.

In addition to these principles, retreaters’ individual needs are always taken into consideration and all dietary requirements are catered for. Our chef is  gluten intolerant herself so have a huge repertoire of gluten free meals and desserts. She can cater for people who have allergies and for those who want Ayurvedic, macrobiotic or raw food cuisine. Any dietary requirement can be catered for as long as it is vegetarian:)

Yoga

We have a stunning yoga Bale to practice in, with a beautiful outlook into the garden.  The yoga sessions are suitable for beginner and intermediate practitioners.

There will be 2 Yoga sessions daily and will integrate a beautiful balance of yin and yang. Your yoga sessions will be led by your yoga facilitators and retreat leaders  Kathleen  and Christina.

Some sessions  will begin with a 20-minute myofascial release session so that your body will be more open and your flow more effective.

Power vinyasa yoga will be our vigorous grounding yang practice to begin each day. Our afternoons will be spent lying in relaxing lush yin yoga poses as well as some guided meditation.

Every night we will close our evening with a guided relaxation (yoga nidra) to help deliver you into an even deeper state of bliss and relaxation before bed.

During free time there will be opportunities to book in a private session with a yoga facilitator. These appointments are an additional charge and are perfect if you want to work on certain poses or simply to improve your alignment. If you would like to book a massage in your down time, there is an onsite massage therapist available.

Getting there

There are many options available when traveling to Byron Bay

  • From Gold Coast Airport; drive or catch a 60min shuttle to Byron Bay (shuttle $30AUD)
  • From Sydney; Fly to Balina Airport NSW and its a 20min shuttle to Byron Bay (shuttle $20)
  • From Brisbane Airport; drive or shuttle to Byron Bay ($58AUD shuttle)

Please note flights are not included in your retreat package. However the team at Live Well Retreats NZ  and Swell Fit Living have traveled to Byron Bay many times so we are more than happy to assist you with any queries about booking your flights.

Traveling from either Wellington, Auckland or Christchurch? There are incredibly reasonable priced  flights from these cities direct to the Gold Coast, flying Jetstar (from $150NZD one way). We are here to look after you so if you need any assistance please feel free to contact us.
